Beautiful dogs with blue eyes - FD 05
Beautiful dogs with blue eyes.
Brown is the most common eye color for dogs, but many
Siberian Huskies have striking blue eyes.
They may also have brown eyes, blue eyes and brown eyes, or
blue and brown eyes in both. Their eye color is controlled by a rare gene that
some breeds are said to have.
According to many people, Siberian Huskies are not the only
dogs with blue eyes. Several factors can cause blue eyes in different breeds.
Normally, however, blue is due to a gene that dilutes pigment and dog eyes.
Dogs who have the merle gene, such as Australian shepherds
and Weimaraners, may have light blue eyes as a result of a random loss of
pigmentation caused by the gene.
This discoloration also leads to a white coat or bright
color on the face. The Siberian Huskies are one of the only breeds that can
have completely blue eyes independent of the merle gene.
Also, if you notice that the dog's eyes are becoming turbid
or light green, it is important to schedule a visit with your veterinarian.
Some conditions that cause blue eyes are harmless, painless, and have little or
no effect on the vision of a dog. But I recommend that your eyes be examined as
soon as possible to determine exactly what is going on and whether treatment is
necessary.
